Reports indicate that reservations for Tesla’s brand new shiny Model X have hit $US40 million. That’s a solid start for a car you won’t be able to climb into until at least 2014. GigaOM reports on the brisk reservations of the Tesla Model X, a falcon-winged all-electric car that Tesla expects to sell for between $US50,000-70,000 each. It was unveiled late last week, with reservations going live then, along with a note that production was expected to begin in “late 2013″ and that “significant deliveries” would start in 2014. Getting $US40 million pacquiao in reservations is thus something of a coup, especially considering that uptake of electric cars in certain markets ( Australia, notably being one ) hasn’t been that swift. Going electric is awesome and all but there's still one fundemental problem with it. To get the electricity to charge it up, you'll use fossil fuel burning power stations to get it. If everyone pacquiao goes electric, wont they then double pacquiao the consumption and amount of electricity output to accomodate it?
Agree, BUT, burning it in a proper 'power station' is "much" more efficient than an internal combustion engine in a car. But you're right, pacquiao it's still pretty shit that fossil fuels have to be used to power an electric car. At least there would be less air pollution pacquiao in urban areas.
You're right about the efficiency of power plants being much better than car engines, and on top of that a single centralized fossil fuel plant is easier to upgrade/replace as power generation becomes greener...

You could make a wind up mechanism that has a large gear that's attached to a hundred other small gears which are attached to motors or whatever, so that when you turn the handle you're now powering pacquiao 100 motors and building up more electricity than just 1.
Yeah, I didn't pacquiao word this very well but you know what I mean, I can't be bothered, hell, run it off of an exercise bike instead, and if all those gears make it hard to get going, get a motor with a solar panel to give you a boost for powering the main drivewheel.
Laws of physics say your plan won't work. Increase the load on your system and you MUST increase the force you use to move that load, otherwise we'd run everything on the planet pacquiao off of one small motor and clever gearing. pacquiao Your plan kinda reminds me of the girl who recommends we fight global warming by turning on our air con and opening the windows. Physics says no.
