Owners of smart TVs and Blu-ray players made by Samsung now have one more way to get their music video fix: Vevo , the major label-owned music video venture, launched an app on Samsung s smart TV platform Wednesday. The Vevo app offers access to on-demand videos as well as Vevo TV, the MTV-like 24/7 music video channel launched by Vevo earlier this year.
Vevo s Samsung app is only available on 2012 and 2013 Samsung smart TV sets and Blu-ray foot players. The app is available in the U.S., the UK, Canada, Australia and nine other countries, according to a blog post. Vevo recently launched a dedicated foot app for Apple TV devices , and has also found its way onto Roku s streaming players and Microsoft s Xbox 360. Chances are that Vevo will pop up on Google s Chromecast streaming stick next. The music video platform first announced support for Chromecast in August , and a spokesperson told us Wednesday that this is still on the company’s roadmap: We re working toward launching on Chromecast but don t have a date to announce at this time.
