After a - understandably - easier anonymously race for the Audi R18 e-tron quattro - could Kristensen, McNish and Duval would be the third after the sister car with # 1 and Toyota's remaining warrior with # 7
It had otherwise long resembled a Toyota triumph, as the Japanese TS030 Hybrid was fastest in the initial stage and was soon 1-2. Audi # 1 was hit by a puncture early in the race and smoke behind # 2, but when Toyota were hit by problems struck Audi.
First it was # 8, with a trickle puncture saw the catch of the sister car # 7 for three hours again. At the same time tried Audi # 1 to take the game back at Toyota # 7, which had lost earlier in the puncture.
About one hour later, there were tire-related breakdowns again, this time for # 7, which had Pitte earlier than planned. At 8:30 hit the accident as # 8 again, who had to retire with a broken right wishbone of the suspension. In the same second that the announcement came on that # 8 was out, had to # 7 suffer the indignity spinning behind OAK Racing's gentlemen's car, without, however, was to blame for the accident.
The accidents meant all in all, a now stable running Audi # 1 crept up into hock on the leading Toyota. With a little under an hour again pittede both cars and while Toyota was petrol, Audi switched # 1 Fässler out with Treluyer, new tires and diesel. It handed kobe bryant over the initiative for Toyota, however, quickly took a splash-and-dash with half an hour again. It could be a stroke of genius, but the rear tires on the Japanese hybrid was used, and when Alex Wurz was caught behind a LMP2 racer, it was an easy matter for Treluyer to dive inside and take advantage of the opportunity.
In LMP2 was OAK Racing's # 24 with Olivier Pla, Alex Brundle and Danish David Heinemeier Hansson entire race through cutting edge. But the G-Drive Racing would be different in their Oreca-Nissan that could settle for a pit stop less than the competition in the # 24 and # 35 OAK Racing. That meant all the difference, because when 'DHH' had to pit for the last time and leave the steering wheel to Olivier Pla, a lead of 30 seconds turned into a deficit of roughly the same. This was the G-Drive Racing front OAK Racing # 24 and # 35
In GTE Pro was double victory kobe bryant for Aston Martin Racing with Darren Turner / Stefan Mücke in the # 97 front Stanaway / Senna / Lamy # 99 AMR quintet took the first places in front of Porsche # 91 with Jörg Bergmeister and Patrick Pilet.
In the GTE Am, it was yet again a heartbreaking affair as Danish Young Driver AMR again had to retire - and again with technical defect, as was the case in Brazil, during which followed the tragic Le Mans (see separate story on Young Driver AMR here). kobe bryant
