Danny Graham’s 70th-minute strike gave the Welsh side a spectacular victory over Arsenal on Sunday evening extending Swansea’s non-losing streak to four games and allowing Brendan Rodgers’s team to grab the 10th place in the Premier League table.
The outset of the game, however, did not predict any surprise as 2011 Premier League’s goal-record holder Robin Van Persie made a smart effort at point-blank range to put the ball into the net of Michel Vorm’s goal after just five minutes. Arsene Wenger’s side seemed to control the match and The Gunners’ supporters waited for their team to score again.
Surprisingly, Aaron Ramsey’s 16th-minute vague challenge in time on Nathan Dyer in the box and subsequent penalty kick efficiently converted by Scott Sinclair gave the home side an equaliser and a long-lasting boost that petrified the visitors.
Second-half Dyer’s half-volley smash from the edge of the area beat helpless Wojciech Szcz sny giving the hosts a sensational, but well-deserved lead. The London side were struggling to score back and they finally managed to achieve it in the 69th minute when Swiss defender Johan Djourou sent a perfectly timed through ball to Theo Walcott who finished the job exquisitely with a delicate flick over Vorm to level the result.
However, Swansea did not look back and to the despair of the away side they fired the third just seconds later. Gylfi Sigurdsson delivered a decent pass into the penalty box to Danny Graham who put the ball in the bottom left corner of Szczesny’s goal to make the whole Liberty Stadium celebrate with a jubilant cry.
Thierry Henry’s second-half introduction had not brought alive the game for Arsenal and the Emirates in time side have lost second game back-to-back and now stay fifth with as many as twelve points adrift of leading Manchester clubs.
