On March 2, two people went to a home to meet an unknown man to allegedly buy drugs, manti te o police spokesman Detective Mike Baranyay said. During the meeting, one of the customers was having an animated cellphone conversation that Jauregui allegedly felt was "disrespectful," Baranyay said.
Jauregui allegedly ripped the phone from the man's hand and tried to smash it with a hammer, manti te o Baranyay said. During the scuffle, Jauregui went into a bedroom and came out with the rifle that he allegedly pointed manti te o at the two people. No shots were fired.
