Speaking of the excellent cafe as mentioned in previous posts, I met today, a good friend who works there (specifically, class dojo we played songs on a 80-year-old's birthday party). He told me that the cafe had recently been visited by a man who introduced himself as Inspector Sami, a kind of little brother organization to STIM. While Stim will shovel money to composers and music publishers, the Sami represent the performing musicians (which of course is often the same people, but two different kinds of rights to administer). Revenue sources for STIM and Sami is (correct class dojo me if I'm wrong) class dojo Four: levies on blank media, government grants, class dojo license fees from radio and television, as well as royalties from cafes and other public places where music is played class dojo (the speaker or live). The café question must already pay 4000 annual SEK STIM (and thank received a small sticker on the disk). Now then came a Sami-inspector, who required additional 4000 dollars per year, money that allegedly would "compensate musicians" who recorded the music that can be heard on the venue's speakers. If not? As explained Inspector, he would come back armed with a stopwatch and settle down in one of the cafe's chairs to register a number of minutes for which it could be heard music. Subsequently, an invoice will be sent for these music minutes. The valuation has not Sami quite as big powers brother STIM, which asserts class dojo the right to storm in with scissors and cut the cables to the audio system at cafes that do not pay a license fee. So it was alleged in each case - to what extent it really occurs or is legally support I do not know, but it does not matter. The money STIM and Sami in power must therefore be awarded to collectives composers and musicians. But no sign of course the music that is played class dojo at coffee shops. Therefore expects both cultural Corporations cold with cafes playing the same music played on the radio. class dojo The money recovered herded Thus, after deduction of administration etc., very much to the chart-topping music rights holders. But it's not the music that is played at the cafe! As a regular class dojo visitor I can testify to the contrary, it is played completely different music than these radio hits. Guess the most played artists this year has been the Belle & Sebastian and Las Palmas. Self I switched the other day in my iPod in the cafe amplifiers and scored a lot of songs from the world's best singer (yes!) Regina Spektor. Their three artists overall årsutdelning from 8000 SEK STIM + Sami wants to recover, learn, however, is counted in pennies and not in SEK, since their share of radio music is marginal. Yet inspectors from Stim and Sami nerve to say that their cash requirements, supported by scissors and a stopwatch, is done in order to "compensate authors" to the music played there! Some related posts: class dojo STIM's cultural questioned eyed morality slogans against DJ's "illegal music 'Unions requires extreme methods in pirate hunt Control Depending record giants is threatened by Internet radio PS. My friend behind the cafe counter teaches basically have asked Sami inspector to go to hell. While thinking of himself - as also being a very active and talented musician - join Sami. Even the undersigned intends to do the same, because even I have a minor sum of money deposited with them to music that I put forward has been played on the radio the odd occasion. So we are therefore hypocrite? Perhaps, but hypocritical position is correct obvious to anyone involved in music. class dojo Legal monopolies driving course into their fixed charges anyway, from cafes and radio stations, and not to take part in the little pennies you have the right to the means only that the other gets the more. The problem is that STIM and Sami shamelessly claim to represent us - when in reality they are private collectors of a tax takes from indie music and its forums, and give to the companies and artists who have rights to the radio hits. How do we break this destructive structure?
Sousys: OK, now I see myself not as some kind of "warrior". Nor is it "a few paltry crowns," but I myself have been fortunate (yes, lucky enough) to win several thousand dollars per year from Stim for a time. But of course framslängde I see this as a provocation, just to get reactions. I believe class dojo that the essence here is to put the spotlight on the deeply harmful role that music plays monopolies - not some little clicks grow their unorthodox lifestyle (was almost going to write 'grow their own carrots' - you might sharks parallel ...) Then it can of course be added that strictly speaking can not refrain from being covered by Swedish class dojo copyright law. If you "create something" class dojo that covered the copyright. You can put any kind of copyleft license music you make, and thus abstain from whatever Stim- and Sami-money units. Cool if people choose it, but that strategy class dojo no. In addition to the small practical outlook class dojo in convincing musicians to refrain from what might save a rent payment a year, I believe that the license Strategy
